2011 ANIMAL MEDICAL CLINIC CANINE HEARTWORM
AND INTESTINAL PARASITE PROTOCOL

We would like to inform you of some changes in our parasite and heartworm control protocol for your pets.  In keeping with the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control, we continue to recommend year-round parasite prevention to best protect your dog and reduce the risk of transmission of intestinal parasites to humans.  After examining the many products available, our veterinarians have selected Interceptor Flavor Tabs to replace Heartgard Plus in order to provide the best protection for our patients.

· Interceptor Flavor Tabs has been proven to be as effective as Heartgard Plus against heartworm disease when used as directed.

· Interceptor Flavor Tabs offers valuable protection against the three major intestinal worms (roundworm, hookworm and whipworm).  Heartgard Plus does not offer protection against whipworm, a difficult parasite to diagnose.  Since some of these parasites can be transmitted from dogs to people, this product helps protect you and your family members too.

Prevention is easy!  All you need to do is give your dog a crunchy, beef-flavored, soy based tablet once a month.  The Interceptor Flavor Tabs can be chewed or swallowed whole.  As with other preventive products, dogs should be tested for heartworm disease prior to picking up their annual supply of Interceptor Flavor Tabs.

We look forward to providing the best in preventive care for your pets again this year.

Sincerely,

The Doctors and Staff of Animal Medical Clinic of St. Charles
