Dr. Cook has limited his practice to surgery, with an emphasis on minimally invasive surgical procedures. These procedures are available to our clients and to other patients by referral from their primary care veterinarians. We have made a considerable investment in time and resources to provide these services. We believe they represent a significant improvement in the treatment of many conditions. Our most common minimally invasive procedures include: flexible gastrointestinal endoscopy, laparoscopy, and arthroscopy (joint surgery). Please ask if you have any questions regarding these types of surgery.
We will work closely with your family veterinarian to provide outstanding continued care for your pet.
Valley Veterinary Surgery was developed to offer pets the best surgical care possible. We place an emphasis on minimally invasive surgical techniques paired with several options of pain management to keep your pet comfortable during their recovery period.
Recent advances in instrumentation and digital video have allowed many procedures to be performed through very small incisions. The gold standard in human medicine for the past two decades, minimally invasive surgery uses endoscopes (rigid or flexible) attached to miniature digital cameras. Endoscopes are introduced through incisions of less than ½ inch and special instruments are introduced through similar incisions. The surgery is performed by watching a video monitor to guide the procedure. Advantages of minimally invasive surgery include less pain and trauma, shorter hospitalization and quicker recovery.
